A MAN was rescued from the river on Friday night after he went into the water at Shannon Bridge at around 11pm.

He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital for treatment and is understood to have been unhurt following the incident.

Gardai and the Limerick Marine Search And Rescue Service assisted in the rescue.
