AT the heart of this city’s Market Quarter, Smyths Bar and Icon Nightclub are holding their own as established favourites. And while Saturday morning was traditionally the quietest time for this party-happy music bar, the renaissance of Milk Market is bringing life and footfall back to Denmark Street in weekend early hours - as opposed to wee hours.

“This is why we have introduced a Saturday breakfast running from 8am to 10am at Smyths,” says day manager Karen Foley. “It’s a varied menu for hot and cold breakfasts and we are doing great business with the Milk Market re-opening”.

Consider the comfort of Smyths warm seats, a place for the kids to wander in safety and the whiff of good bacon. Sometimes breakfast isn’t just breakfast, it’s the best meal of the day.

“We also have a new chef who has introduced new themes and dishes to our day to day menus. Our carvery is out every day of the week, not just Monday to Friday, and it serves food on a 12noon to 6pm basis on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure a leisurely weekend is possible”.

Catch a band while on the run around town. Sonar is a regular here and is booked for Thursday 15 night; Friday 16 sees a new booking in Naked Bear and Saturday nights is the stomping ground of DJ Richee.

For Sunday, Karen notes the hit that Suducers proved to be, a relatively new name to Smyths and thought them good enough to book again. Meanwhile, seven nights a week and with seven TV screens for sport, you can grab five longneck beers for €15 or choose from a lively roster of promotional shots and beers. Smyths, on your side, at Denmark Street.
