Munster and Ireland second row, Donncha O'Callaghan has been withdrawn from Declan Kidney's starting 15 for Ireland's RBS Six Nations opener against Italy. Following a test yesterday, it was decided by the Irish coaching and medical staff that O'Callaghan's would not be fit to take up his place in the second row.

O'Callaghan's injury sees Leo Cullen promoted from the bench to partner Paul O'Connell while Donnacha Ryan fills the vacancy on the bench and line up for his first Irish cap.

Ireland take on Italy in Croke Park this Saturday at 14.30
